Dr. Doris Castillo
ELA Implementation Specialist, CSD28
Doris Castillo has been in education for over two decades, beginning her career as a NYC Teaching Fellow. She has been a classroom teacher in elementary, middle, and high schools, where she has taught English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Spanish, and Journalism. She has also served as a Data Specialist, Staff Developer, Mentor, and Coach.
Castillo has also taught at the university level at Miami-Dade University and Hostos University. Most recently, Castillo worked for the Division of Teaching and Learning as an Instructional Specialist within the Literacy Collaborative team, which developed NYCReads. She currently works as the ELA Implementation Specialist in Community School District 28.
Castillo holds a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University, a master’s degree in education from Brooklyn College, and a doctoral degree in Instructional Leadership and Curriculum from St. John’s University.
