Sonia Rueda
Family Leadership Coordinator
As the Family Leadership Coordinator for District 28, Sonia Rueda provides technical support to the all parent leaders including Parent Associations/Parent-Teacher Associations (PA/PTA), Presidents Council, School Leadership Teams (SLT), District Leadership Team (DLT), Title I, and the Community Education Council (CEC). In addition, she develops and facilitates workshops and leads professional development for parents, parent leaders, parent coordinators and the school community on diverse topics including Chancellor’s regulations, Effective Parent Leadership and Social Emotional Wellness.
Sonia Rueda is a licensed social worker who has been working with the New York City Department (NYCDOE) since 2003. With over 25 years of experience in the field of Social Services she has a strong background working with at-risk children/adolescents and their families. Sonia has extensive knowledge in Child Welfare and NYCDOE programs and policies, specializing in those that relate to family/community engagement, parent advocacy and compliance.
Sonia holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Master’ of Science Degree in Administration. When Sonia is not working, she enjoys dancing, going to concerts and spending time with family.
