Angela

Angela Teutschman brings more than 25 years of experience in New York City Public Schools, including 17 years as a school-based leader, much of it within District 28.She has developed a deep understanding of District 28 schools, built meaningful community partnerships, and cultivated strong relationships with educators and school leaders across the district.

Most recently, Teutschman served as Principal of JHS 217, Robert A. Van Wyck Middle School, and previously as Principal of PS 175, The Lynn Gross Discovery School. In these roles, she led sustained improvement efforts centered on instructional coherence, equity, student engagement, and inclusive school culture. She was named a Model Principal through the NYC Lighthouse Collaborative, partnering with schools across the city to share and scale effective instructional and leadership strategies.

Teutschman also served as an Assistant Principal in elementary and middle school settings, with experience in Pre-K–8 instruction, special education, English Language Learners, school safety, and instructional coaching. As a Model Assistant Principal through the NYC Learning Partners Program and Faculty Facilitator for the Assistant Principal Leadership Institute, she led professional learning focused on culturally responsive practices and restorative justice.

Teutschman brings a strong instructional foundation to her leadership, drawing on her experience as a New York City Public Schools middle school English Language Arts teacher, elementary grade teacher, and academic interventionist. As a school leader, she has advanced equitable, engaging, and future-ready learning experiences by implementing career-oriented initiatives that expand students’ exposure to professional pathways and higher education through partnerships with high schools, community organizations, and external institutions. She is also a founding member and facilitator of District 28’s Leadership Pipeline, where she has designed and led the Aspiring Leader and Aspiring Principal pipelines and mentored teacher leaders and assistant principals, many of whom now serve in leadership roles across the district.

As Deputy Superintendent, Teutschman brings a practitioner’s perspective to district leadership, grounded in firsthand experience leading schools, developing leaders, and advancing career-connected initiatives. She is committed to equitable outcomes for all students while supporting principals and school teams in building strong, inclusive, and future-ready schools.
